Morocco’s Proactive COVID-19 Response Earns Praise from Human Rights Groups

Human rights NGOs have praised the approach adopted by Morocco to effectively fight the coronavirus that is hitting several countries hard.
Anticipatory, effective and relevant. These are the adjectives used by human rights NGOs to describe the measures taken by the Moroccan authorities to counter the coronavirus. In their reports, they indicate that these measures have allowed the kingdom to avoid the fatal mistakes of other countries (Italy and Spain) engaged in the same fight.
These NGOs note that many countries have not followed the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) because they were adamant about preserving individual freedoms. Based on this observation, Michael Page, deputy director of the Middle East and North Africa division at Human Rights Watch, called on countries that have declared states of emergency to guarantee the vital rights of populations in exceptional situations. "The test of each state lies in how it behaves towards its citizens in times of crisis," he hammered.
