Morocco’s Prime Minister Urges Budget Cuts as 2023 Finance Bill Nears Completion

Aziz Akhannouch calls on the members of his government to rationalize the expenses of their respective departments. This orientation comes as the 2023 finance bill is being finalized.
Aziz Akhannouch, in a circular, invited the members of his government to reduce spending on the purchase of cars and the construction and development of their administrative headquarters, according to a 15-page note addressed to the members of his cabinet regarding the 2023 finance bill.
The Head of Government also called for "the rationalization of the use of water and expenses related to communications as well as reducing electricity consumption costs by using renewable energies," the document states. He also emphasized the need to avoid the accumulation of arrears and to prioritize their liquidation, particularly those related to water and electricity.
Aziz Akhannouch also asks the ministers to reduce travel and transportation costs within and outside the country as well as those related to receptions, conferences and seminars and studies.
