Morocco Prepares for Peak Travel as Expatriates Return Home from Summer Vacation

As part of the planning of the return of Moroccans living abroad who came on vacation to Morocco, provisions have been put in place to cope with the intensity of traffic.
This return phase of the Marhaba 2022 operation, launched since the beginning of August, is in full swing, with a lower intensity, said the Moroccan port authorities. According to official data, we are recording after a week, significant increases by bursts.
To better anticipate these periods, the port of Tanger Med proposes a selection of the best dates, in order to avoid the periods of high affluence and has even established a calendar of affluence for the months of August and September. The intention is to facilitate the crossing to cope with the intensity of traffic, during these two months and to travel more easily.
According to forecasts, the peaks of this phase are expected between August 25 and 31, during which a very high influx is expected. Others will also be recorded between August 11 and 24, from September 1 to 4 and from September 8 to 11, predict the authorities of Tanger-Med.
In addition, the same sources indicate that the ports most used by the return phase are the port of Algeciras for the outward and return journey (60%), followed by the port of Almeria at 17%, then the port of Tarifa at 12%. On the Spanish side, similar measures are being taken to welcome the MREs. A security device of 16,000 men has been set up, in order to continue the return process under the best conditions until September 15.
