Morocco Prepares for COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout Amid Global Supply Challenges

Morocco is fully prepared to succeed in the Covid-19 vaccination operation. "The competent parties are closely monitoring this issue, particularly in relation to the suppliers," assures Prime Minister Saadeddine El Othmani.
The difficulty today, according to the Prime Minister, is that faced with increased demand, manufacturers are in a race against time to meet global demand. And since the countries that have developed vaccines are prioritizing their own citizens, Mr. El Othmani noted that some countries have had to pay at least five times the price of the precious product to obtain it, observing that the kingdom remains dependent on the evolution of the situation on the global vaccine market to launch its national vaccination campaign. Adequate financial resources are also allocated to ensure free vaccination and successfully carry out the operation, in compliance with professional standards, within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed with the pharmaceutical group Sinopharm.
In this context, the Prime Minister has announced that a system for monitoring vaccinated individuals will be developed and that a document containing a QR code will be issued to each beneficiary of the campaign, which the person concerned will have to keep, in accordance with the proposal of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who called for a "global mechanism" that would use QR codes to help establish a traveler’s health status.
