Morocco Prepares 670 Hospital Beds for Coronavirus Cases as First Infections Confirmed

After announcing this week two cases of the new coronavirus, the Minister of Health specified, during a press conference, the provisions taken by the kingdom to manage the situation.
According to Khalid Ait Taleb, Morocco has 670 beds dedicated to Covid-19 cases, as well as 6 negative pressure rooms in hospitals. For now, a health form is sufficient to allow tourists or foreign nationals to enter the kingdom, via customs posts at ports and airports.
The Minister of Health indicated that a first case of the new coronavirus was recorded on a Moroccan citizen coming from Italy and confirmed in the laboratory of the Pasteur-Maroc Institute. Khalid Ait Taleb indicated that the patient is a 39-year-old Moroccan, who was in Bergamo, in the northeast of Milan, in the Lombardy region. He returned to Morocco by plane on February 27. Upon arrival, he did not show any signs of illness, reports Barlamane.
However, the authority reassures, "the state of health of the infected person, who is moreover taken care of according to the health measures in force, is stable and does not give cause for concern." According to Khalid Ait Taleb, when the person went to the hospital, he was only suffering from abdominal pain and diarrhea. The symptoms of covid-19 were not visible. All the people he came into contact with on the plane and in Morocco have all been contacted and placed in isolation; some in Casablanca, El Jadida, and Ouarzazate. The patient himself is receiving care at the Moulay Youssef hospital in Casablanca.
In addition, the global balance sheet has exceeded 3,100 deaths this Tuesday, and the epidemic is now spreading to several countries and is greatly impacting the global economy.
