Morocco Police Chief Fired for Forcing Officer to Perform Domestic Labor

The head of the General Directorate of National Security, Abdellatif Hammouchi, has relieved a senior official posted in Rabat of his duties for having forced a policewoman to perform domestic tasks for the benefit of his mother.
The case came to light following a domestic accident that occurred at the home of the senior official, causing severe trauma to the young policewoman. The officer, who supervised five police districts in Rabat, was immediately suspended from his duties, reports the daily Assabah.
Things seem to be getting complicated for the former deputy police chief, especially since the victim suffered a hysterical crisis during the preliminary investigation, requiring her transfer to the psychiatric hospital. According to the daily, the official, questioned by the prefectural judicial police service, would be involved in serious professional misconduct that the investigators are working to elucidate.
For the time being, he has been assigned to the Rabat police prefecture without duties, pending the decisions taken against him by the disciplinary council. The statements of the young policewoman, still in convalescence, should reveal new evidence that could further incriminate the senior official, the daily specifies.
Meanwhile, the Rabat police chief would have entrusted the deputy of the suspended officer with the interim during this critical period of the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
