Morocco Pledges Stronger Action on Climate Change and COVID-19 Recovery

Morocco is ready to step up its efforts to effectively combat climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic. Aziz Rabbah, the Minister of Energy, Mines and Environment, said the government is resolutely committed to achieving this.
The minister spoke on Thursday during a ministerial meeting of the "online platform" on a sustainable and resilient Covid-19 recovery, jointly organized by the Japanese government and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This is a forum for sharing experiences and views, attended by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, outgoing Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and ministers and representatives from 30 countries.
Aziz Rabbah was one of the 10 speakers who spoke during the session. The minister reassured of Morocco’s commitment to fighting climate change at all levels. And this involves collaboration with national, regional and pan-African initiatives. The minister emphasized the need to preserve biodiversity, access to clean energy, social development and the need for sustainable agriculture.
Regarding the new coronavirus, the minister specified that overcoming the pandemic requires a focus on climate change and deeper international collaboration.
