Morocco Plans Seventh Census Since Independence, Aims for 2024 Completion

While it organizes a general population and housing census (RGPH) every ten years, Morocco seems to be preparing a new census for 2022 after the one in 2014. Already signs of this.
Morocco plans to organize the seventh census since independence before 2024. According to sources, the kingdom "is working on several data-related projects and especially the Unified Social Register, which will be useful for targeting operations in terms of social protection and direct aid," reports Maghreb Intelligence.
In addition, the government has already mobilized an initial payment in the 2022 Finance Bill (PLF) for the RGPH. The PLF provides for an initial envelope of 110 million dirhams for the RGPH registered in the Special Fund dedicated to public relations.
The body authorized to organize the RGPH is the High Commission for Planning (HCP) headed by Ahmed Lahlimi Alami.
