Morocco Plans Repatriation of 18,000 Citizens Stranded Overseas

The Director of Consular and Social Affairs, Mohamed Basri, spoke about the situation of Moroccans stranded abroad. He reassures them of their repatriation in the coming days.
"Today, there are 18,173 Moroccan citizens stranded abroad, on all continents, with a concentration in European countries, given the exchanges we have with European countries. Some of these compatriots who are in need, and who have expressed the wish, are being taken care of by the diplomatic and consular missions. They benefit from support, monitoring and regular contact," said Mohamed Basri, in an interview with 2M.
Regarding the repatriation of these Moroccans, he indicated that "it is indeed an important issue, but that this return should not be done hastily. It must be well prepared, and it must be successful." "All the conditions must be met, before, during and after the repatriation operation," he explained.
Mohamed Basri confided that all efforts are being combined. "The objective is to succeed in the repatriation. The objective is that with the effort of everyone and others, we can ensure the health safety, both of our fellow citizens in Morocco and of our fellow citizens stranded abroad who will be able to return home. This is the challenge to be met and which requires mobilization, acts of solidarity and understanding and that all the conditions are met," he added.
"[...] No Moroccan is abandoned whatever the conditions, whatever the situation," assured the diplomat, before inviting the Moroccans stuck abroad to be patient.
