Morocco Plans to Reopen Borders in July, Boosting Tourism Hopes

The opening of borders is taking shape in Morocco. After having long closed its land, air and sea borders due to the coronavirus pandemic, Morocco is preparing to reopen them in July, just a day after the lifting of the state of health emergency.
The closure of the Moroccan borders has led to the suspension or slowdown of several sectors, including tourism. Consequently, its reopening is awaited in Morocco as well as abroad.
While tourism operators are eager to see this "miracle" happen in order to save the season, foreign tourists, for their part, are eagerly awaiting to return to the kingdom to discover its tourism potential.
Despite the cancellation of the Marhaba operation, Moroccans residing abroad will undoubtedly be very numerous to go to the kingdom. According to figures released by the Spanish media, they could this year be around 1.5 million to take the departure, against nearly 2.8 million last year.
