Morocco’s Planning Commission Targets Social Inequality with Employment and Wage Reforms

Reducing social inequalities is a major concern for the High Commission for Planning (HCP). In this sense, it is betting on decent employment, normally functioning public services and genuine social coverage.
The solutions to fight against social inequalities essentially concern the improvement of the quality of employment and the valorization of wages and unemployment benefits to the tune of 55.1%. This is the formula found by the High Commission for Planning (HCP) to reduce social inequalities in the kingdom.
This formula is widely developed in the 11th issue of its review "Les brefs du Plan" with a rather evocative title: "Perceptions of Moroccans regarding social protection: contribution to the debate on the new development model".
According to the same source, public social support for the poor and the generalization of social coverage come in second place (34.5%), followed by the improvement of housing conditions and access to basic social services (10.3%).
