Morocco’s Planning Commission Proposes Strategy to Boost Integration of 5 Million Expats

The low integration of Moroccans living abroad (MREs) is a concern for the High Commission for Planning (HCP), which has proposed a new governance structured around four strategic points.
Composed of Moroccan citizens established around the world, this large community of 5 million nationals is distinguished by a strong attachment to Morocco. According to the High Commission for Planning (HCP), their volume of financial transfers is estimated at 9% of GDP.
In addition, there are their investments and real estate acquired in the Kingdom, not to mention their ability to bring great added value to the national economy, through their rich and numerous experiences, indicates telquel.ma.
In addition to their financial contribution, the HCP noted the "difficulties in exercising the right to vote" of these MREs. According to the same institution, this recurring concern could affect the "quality of relations" and the "detachment of the new generations" towards Morocco.
To this end, the institution proposes a "pan-governmental" approach, which is structured around culture, education, social action and finally the economy.
