Morocco’s PJD and PAM Parties Meet to Discuss Potential Election Alliance

In the perspective of the upcoming elections, the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) and the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) held, on Saturday, July 24 at the central headquarters of the Islamist party in Rabat, a consultation meeting attended by Saâdeddine El Othmani and Abdellatif Ouahbi. Will an alliance be formed between the two parties?
Examination of coordination between the PJD and the PAM before the electoral battle. This is the full scope of the meeting held in Rabat. On this occasion, their leaderships welcomed the coordination between the two parties on the front of the fight against Covid-19 and the development of the new development model and between their elected representatives at the level of local authorities, indicates a joint press release. They also stressed the importance of consolidating this coordination in order to contribute to the democratic process and development in Morocco and to meet the major challenges facing the country.
However, "the coordination does not go as far as an alliance," Slimane Amrani, deputy secretary general of the PJD, told Hespress. "We don’t have any prior alliances within the PJD, we have focused on the principle of cooperation between national political parties. Not all, but those with whom we have affinities," he explained, adding that there are many issues on which the two parties share the same views, in particular those of professional candidacies, the use of money during elections, etc.
