Morocco’s Parliament to Debate COVID-19 Reopening Strategy on May 18

The government’s strategy to lead Morocco towards deconfinement is being invited to the heart of the monthly session devoted to general policy issues, addressed to the Head of Government. It will be held on May 18 at the House of Representatives.
The date of May 18 was chosen by mutual agreement between the representatives of the parliamentary groups and the president of the parliamentary group, in the presence of Habib El Malki, president of the first chamber. Pending this meeting, they stressed "the effectiveness of the approach adopted in terms of preventive measures and the relevance of the topics discussed during the weekly sessions". They also expressed their pride in "the spirit of solidarity that prevailed among all components of Moroccan society in the fight against the pandemic," according to the MAP.
From now on, it has been decided to include on the agenda of the weekly sessions, questions on the industry, commerce, green and digital economy sectors, followed by a debate with the participation of the minister concerned.
An opportunity to discuss "the impact of the crisis on national companies, the domestic and foreign trade sectors as well as the support measures adopted by the government in this regard, and the procedures undertaken to achieve the objectives of the Industrial Acceleration Plan," the same source specifies.
