Morocco’s Parliament Committee Advances Cannabis Legalization Bill Despite PJD Opposition

The Justice and Development Party (PJD) voted against the draft law on the legal use of cannabis for therapeutic and industrial purposes, when it was adopted on Friday by the Interior Committee of the first chamber of parliament.
20 votes in favor, 3 against. This is the result of the vote that adopted the cannabis bill by the Interior Committee of the first chamber of parliament. The Justice and Development Party (PJD), as it had announced in the early Friday morning, did indeed vote against this project.
"The PJD will vote against the articles of this draft law," said MP Moh Rejdali at the opening of the committee’s work. The PJD "will vote against the entirety of this draft law not only on Friday, during the meeting of the Interior Committee dedicated to the amendments, but also during the plenary session that will be devoted on Monday to the overall and final vote on the same law," said a party leader contacted by Le360.
The adoption of draft law 13.21 on the legal use of cannabis is expected this Monday, during the plenary session of parliament.
