Morocco: Over 470,000 Households Receive Loan Deferrals Amid COVID-19 Crisis

As of the end of September 2020, the number of beneficiaries of the deferral of the maturities of real estate and consumer loans for people impacted by the health crisis related to Covid-19, put in place on March 19 by the Economic Monitoring Committee, reached 471,742 households in the Kingdom. At the same time, 32,248 requests from companies were validated by the banking sector.
As of the end of August, in the field of microcredit, 69,300 requests have been validated, said Abdellatif Jouahri, the Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib, this Tuesday, November 24, 2020, before the Finance Committee in the first chamber.
Addressing the assessment of Damane Oxygène, the number of beneficiary companies was 41,142 for an amount of 13.7 billion DH, as of the end of October 2020. The envelope allocated for this purpose is 16.5 billion DH. On the side of Damane relance and Damane relance hôtellerie, 25,103 companies have been beneficiaries for an amount of 13.5 billion DH, out of a dedicated envelope of 30.3 billion DH.
Regarding self-employed workers, this decision benefited 2,875 people for 31.2 million DH, out of a dedicated amount of 37 million DH, added the governor of the central bank, before indicating that the Support Fund for Financing equipped with 6 Billion DH, allocated over 3 years, and financed by the State and the banking sector, granted financing of 1.9 MD of DH as of November 15, 2020, for the benefit of 9,443 beneficiaries. In addition, as part of the integrated program to support financing, 1,689 companies have been established with a capacity of 28,000 jobs.
