Morocco Outpaces Developed Nations in COVID-19 Vaccination Effort, Expert Says

Unlike other developed countries, Morocco has managed to vaccinate more than 10% of its population. A stroke of luck, says Samir Machour, a Moroccan expatriate (MRE) working at Samsung Biologics.
In a post on his Facebook account, Samir Machour, one of the figures involved in the acquisition of the Covid-19 vaccines by the Kingdom, saluted the efforts of his country in the race for vaccines. "Morocco is very lucky to have been able to vaccinate more than 10% of its population, far ahead of many other developed countries. The vaccination campaign in Morocco has been and still is an example for other countries in the world," he said.
As of Sunday, March 7, 2021, the kingdom ranks 8th among the ten countries most advanced in their vaccination campaigns, according to the latest statistics from the specialized website Our World in Data. After receiving 8 million vaccines from the Sinopharm and AstraZeneca laboratories, Morocco received another batch of 500,000 doses last weekend to allow it to continue its Covid-19 vaccination campaign. The kingdom could receive more vaccine shipments in the coming days, particularly from the Covax program and the British laboratory AstraZeneca.
