Morocco’s Ouarzazate Solar Plant Resumes Operations After Minor Earthquake Damage

The Moroccan Ministry of Energy has assured that the energy infrastructures did not suffer any damage during the earthquake in Al Haouz, except for the Ouarzazate solar power plant where "minor" damage was observed and has already been repaired.
"Minor damage" was observed on some equipment of the Noor plant and "has been repaired," the ministry said in a statement relayed by EFE, ensuring that "all energy facilities are operating normally" as well as nuclear facilities.
The Ministry of Energy also states in its note that the earthquake did not affect the continuity of the supply of energy products (diesel, gasoline, butane gas and aviation fuel). "The ministry has carried out a rigorous control of the arrival of oil tankers in the affected areas to ensure the supply of these areas under the best conditions and in a continuous manner," it is specified.
After the earthquake, "no fundamental change" was also noted regarding mining activity, the ministry added, stating that technical inspections of the various underground mining deposits and surface facilities were carried out, in coordination with the mining companies, to "assess and limit possible damage and risks".
