Morocco’s ’Operation Marhaba’ for Returning Expats Delayed Due to COVID-19 Concerns

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, affirmed on Tuesday, in Rabat, that the Marhaba Operation will take place according to the evolution of the health situation and in compliance with the barrier measures.
The minister indicated, during the oral question session at the House of Councilors, that the starting date of the operation, initially scheduled for June 4, must be reviewed according to the health crisis.
In addition, he pointed out that the date of reopening of the borders, closed due to covid-19, is not yet known precisely. The same goes for the borders of the countries through which the MREs transit, particularly those between Spain and France or between Italy and France.
In short, concluded the minister, the launch of the Marhaba operation will have to take into account all these considerations inherent to the covid-19 health crisis.
