Morocco Opens Two New Prisons in Larache and Oujda to Expand Capacity

The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) has announced the opening of two new penitentiary establishments. These are the local prison of Larache 2 and the local prison of Oujda 2.
In a press release, the DGAPR indicated that the local prison of Larache 2 has been officially put into service and is already welcoming inmates transferred from other penitentiary establishments. It is built on an area of more than 47,000 square meters and has a capacity of 1,500 beds spread over seven quarters.
Furthermore, the building includes a pedagogical wing composed of six classrooms, five vocational training workshops. There is also a room dedicated to family visits and an administrative housing of more than 10,000 square meters, reports the Map.
As for the local prison of Oujda 2, it started receiving new inmates on Thursday, October 15. Its area is 4.5 hectares and it contains 1,400 beds spread over 12 quarters. It has a quarter reserved for women and female inmates with children. There is also a quarter dedicated to minors, a room for family visits, a multidisciplinary clinic and a pedagogical wing with classrooms and vocational training, the same source specifies.
