Morocco Opens Africa’s First Advanced Automotive Testing Facility

The German group FEV has just inaugurated in Morocco the first test center for new car prototypes in Africa. A state-of-the-art center sheltered from prying eyes.
FEV inaugurated on Tuesday this 500-hectare center, located at an altitude of 850 meters and only 150 kilometers from Casablanca. It includes a 4-kilometer-long track, with sections for high-speed driving tests, braking and acoustics tests, flooded passages, potholed roads, very steep slopes, etc.
The center also has the necessary infrastructure to test new driving aids and even advanced autonomous driving functions for all types of vehicles (traditional, electric, hybrid). It is also equipped with laboratories for certification tests according to the WLTP cycle, as well as leisure facilities, restaurants, a spa and a hotel for guests.
Morocco is a real attraction for automotive manufacturers and equipment suppliers due to low labor costs and the availability of land for the construction of new car production plants. The kingdom has recently presented to the public its first 100% Moroccan car.
