Morocco to Open Largest Bridge Linking Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa in 2022

The largest bridge connecting Europe and sub-Saharan Africa via Morocco will be operational in 2022, the completion date of the expressway project in the Tiznit-Dakhla region.
The Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara, on an inspection visit to the work of the great project of the transcontinental road to connect Europe to sub-Saharan Africa via Morocco, indicated on Thursday that the construction site in the province of Tarfaya in the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, is progressing well.
It houses 475 km of this expressway, with three engineering structures, for a budget of around 3.6 billion dirhams (MMDH). As for the road itself, 1,055 km long and costing around 10 MMDH, it will allow the establishment of the largest bridge in Morocco in Laâyoune, which will extend over 1,650 m.
Accompanied by the governor of the province of Tan-Tan, Mohamed Hamim, Amara also visited the seawater desalination station in Tarfaya. Costing 140 million dirhams, it was completed in a short time, by a Moroccan company, the minister pointed out, who also extended his outing to several other sections of this major project near the city of Tiznit and in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region, including other dam construction sites.
