Morocco Officially Integrates Amazigh Language into Public Administration

The Moroccan authorities officially launched the procedures that will allow the integration of Amazigh into public administrations on Tuesday. The ceremony was chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch.
During the ceremony organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition in partnership with the Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM), guests were treated to the presentation of a set of measures and procedures whose role is to "facilitate access to public services for people who speak the language".
For Aziz Akhannouch, "the official recognition of the Amazigh language is the fruit of the royal will that has allowed great progress in the last twenty years. This historic turning point began with the Ajdir speech pronounced by the King in 2001," rejoicing in the culmination of a process that does not date from today. "Thanks to the efforts of the current government, we are witnessing manifestations of the perpetuation of the activation of the official character of Amazigh as stipulated in the 2011 constitution, in line with the King’s resolute vision," he added.
For her part, the Minister of Digital Transition, Ghita Mezzour, explained that "one of the most important projects is that there are today 460 auxiliaries in all the regions of the Kingdom who speak the three dialects" which will facilitate communication with the citizens concerned and allow "to help and guide them in their language to facilitate their access to public services, in particular administrative services and those of health".
In addition, the Ministry of Digital Transition has signed several agreements with other ministries in order to promote Amazigh culture and identity. An application will also be developed with the aim of helping citizens and Moroccans abroad to learn the language.
