Morocco, number 1 in Africa

Morocco has become the number one tourist destination in Africa at the beginning of 2024. And for good reason, with direct flights offered from 14 cities in the United Kingdom, Morocco is attracting more and more British tourists.
Marrakech, a true gateway to the country, sees an influx of tourists who then venture into the mountains of the High Atlas for hikes, the sunny beaches of Agadir for relaxation and golf, or the white medinas of the Atlantic coast, writes The Telegraph. Fez, Rabat and Casablanca, the imperial cities, also attract visitors in search of culture and history.
This 18% increase in tourist arrivals since the beginning of the year is the result of a successful strategy, explains the newspaper. Morocco has focused on developing new air links and promoting its culture. The inauguration last October of the Grand Théâtre de Rabat, a building "that could become as iconic as the Sydney Opera House" according to the newspaper, is a testament to this ambition. The country is also multiplying festivals, concerts and cultural events to attract an international audience.
The British daily does not fail to highlight the diversity of experiences offered by Morocco. Mountain hikes, visits to imperial cities, relaxation on miles of beaches, surfing from September to April... there is something for everyone! Ouarzazate, a city popular with filmmakers like Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese and David Lean, and currently serving as the backdrop for the film "Gladiator II" with Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington, is also a flagship destination.
Finally, the newspaper recalls the ease of access to Morocco from the United Kingdom: 28 airlines serve the country from 14 British airports, with flights lasting a maximum of three and a half hours.
