Morocco’s Noor Solar Tower: World’s Largest Renewable Energy Marvel Propels Kingdom Forward

The world’s largest solar power tower, Noor, is located in Morocco and is propelling the Kingdom towards the future of renewable energy, according to the French monthly magazine "Sciences et Avenir".
At a height of 243 meters, this tower stands like a rocket, ready to take off, in the middle of the dancing mirrors around it, the same magazine recalls. These thousands of mirrors are tested by focusing the sun’s light on two points in the sky, creating this effect of two "moons" surrounding Noor 3. According to the explanations, "this optical effect is the product of a test carried out once a year, and only for a few hours, on the mirrors that supply the tower with light."
In service since October 2018, this concentrated solar power (CSP) tower is currently the most powerful in the world, with a capacity of 150 megawatts (MW), the same source claims. The French Review indicates that this solar station corresponds to the energy consumption of about 65,000 French households.
This station, thanks to a heat storage system, can produce electricity even at night, hours after sunset, to the point of inspiring the latest science fiction film starring Jean Reno (in production), the magazine specifies. "In the film, they actually make the solar station pass for a space rocket," the magazine observes.
"Finally, it may not be a space rocket, but with its large capacity for clean energy production and low water consumption, Noor 3 is propelling Morocco towards the future of renewable energy," it is written.
