Morocco NGO Proposes GPS Tracking for Government Vehicles to Curb Misuse

In Morocco, an NGO is calling for the installation of GPS antennas on service vehicles assigned to certain civil servants in order to prevent their use for private purposes.

The Moroccan Forum for Human Rights seems to have found the solution to fight against the personal use of service vehicles made available to certain civil servants. The NGO is calling on the competent authorities to install GPS antennas on all vehicles in the state’s vehicle fleet in order to avoid abuses, reveals Assabah.

These GPS antennas will make it possible to control the use of these vehicles, explains the NGO in a press release, denouncing the anarchic use of these vehicles by certain civil servants in several cities of the kingdom including Marrakech, on the occasion of their holidays, holidays and public holidays.

The former Minister of Transport and Equipment, Aziz Rebbah, had had the same idea of equipping all the vehicles in the state’s vehicle fleet with GPS in order to control the movements of civil servants. The measure aimed to reduce maintenance costs and fuel expenses. The National Transport and Logistics Company (SNTL) had also initiated a similar project that did not prosper, it is recalled.
