Morocco Nears Herd Immunity Goal, WHO Reports

Taking into account the number of people already vaccinated, the remaining stock and natural immunity, Morocco is assured of reaching collective immunity in the coming weeks.
In the opinion of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the members of the scientific committee, the analysis of the official figures shows that Morocco is inexorably approaching a rate of immunity.
The international institution stated that the Kingdom has "already achieved the global vaccination objective set in May by the World Health Assembly, the supreme decision-making body of the WHO", adding that it is one of the few countries in Africa to achieve this performance, reports the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
Citing the official figures, the newspaper reports that the Kingdom has managed to vaccinate 70% of the population for the first dose, 58% with the two doses, as well as 38% of the 12-17 age group, or 1,300,000 students vaccinated against Covid-19.
In this dynamic, Morocco will reach, in early October, the rate of 60% for the population vaccinated with the two doses, with the injection of the third dose intended for the elderly and health professionals, and 80% in November, on the basis of the national vaccination plan. A prelude to a gradual exit from the crisis and a return to normal.
