Morocco Nears Completion of Strategic Road Link to Mauritania

Morocco is about to finalize a major road project connecting Smara to Mauritania. This new 53-kilometer communication route will help strengthen economic and social ties between the kingdom and sub-Saharan countries.
While the final layer of asphalt is being laid, the completion of this strategic road is imminent, according to sources cited by Rue20. It aims to stimulate the development of the southern Moroccan regions.
This road project constitutes the second major axis connecting Morocco and Mauritania, after the Guerguerat border post. It will facilitate transportation and boost trade between the two countries.
Sources indicate that the surveillance of this new road will be ensured by drones of the Moroccan army.
