Morocco national team matches: Walid Regragui’s little surprises
National coach Walid Regragui has announced his list of players for the next gathering of the Moroccan national team. This training camp is crucial, as it is the last preparation before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco starting in December.
A list of twenty-seven players has been finalized for the two friendly matches scheduled at the Grand Stade de Tanger. The Atlas Lions will face Mozambique on November 14 and Uganda on November 18. These two matches, scheduled for 8:00 pm, will serve as the final tests to fine-tune the automatisms before the continental tournament.
According to the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), this selection is marked by several notable adjustments. It confirms the return of former captain Romain Saïss (Al-Sadd), as well as those of Soufiane Rahimi (Al Ain FC) and Sofiane Diop (Nice). However, the pillar of the defense, Achraf Hakimi, remains unavailable due to his recent injury.
The coach has also called up a new face. The young defender from PSV Eindhoven, Anass Salah-Eddine, is being called up for the first time with the A team.
The complete list of 27 players
For the goalkeeper positions, Walid Regragui has trusted Mounir El Kajoui, Yassine Bounou and Mehdi Lahrar.
In defense, the list includes Noussair Mazraoui, Nayef Aguered, Adam Masina, Jawad El Yamiq, Mohamed Chibi, Youssef Belammari, as well as the newcomer Anass Salah-Eddine and the returnee Romain Saïss.
