Morocco’s National Security Chief Outlines 2023 Priorities: Digital ID, Disinformation, Drug Enforcement

In order to succeed in its mission in 2023, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has defined new priorities that were unveiled on Thursday during the meeting held at the headquarters of the institution.
The generalization of digital identity, prevention against disinformation and the fight against drugs are among the major challenges launched by the DGSN for next year. Reviewing the various actions carried out this year, Abdellatif Hammouchi mentioned the structural projects and sites likely to have a positive impact on the various aspects of security.
The DGSN chief stressed the need to multiply partnerships with other public institutions in order to expand the use of digital identity applications. The objective is to allow citizens to prove their identity quickly and securely with various organizations and to access their online services, he explained.
The other priority announced by Hammouchi is the fight against disinformation. This involves identifying violent content and communicating with public opinion about it. While congratulating the managers at various levels for the balance sheet of this year, the director urged them to make more efforts in order to fulfill their mission. According to the published figures, the various police services seized more than 2.5 million psychotropic drugs in 2022, which is a record.
