Morocco's National Airline to Expand Fleet Fourfold by 2035

In anticipation of the 2030 World Cup, the Moroccan government signed a program contract with Royal Air Maroc in 2023 to quadruple its current fleet from 50 to 200 aircraft by 2035. Thanks to this partnership, the airline has already acquired between 11 and 13 new aircraft.

The announcement was made by Fouzi Lekjaa, the delegate minister in charge of the Budget, during a session organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) to discuss the 2025 Finance Act. The official confirmed that RAM has recently received Boeing 787 Dreamliners, as well as Boeing Max aircraft.

Lekjaa stated that the program contract signed with the airline aims to enable it to strengthen Morocco’s connection with the different regions of the world, particularly from the Casablanca airport which will be transformed into a hub. He also announced the completion, by the end of this year, of the extension and rehabilitation work on the airports of Marrakech, Tangier, Fez and Rabat.

These actions are part of RAM’s flight network expansion plan and will contribute to Morocco’s goal of attracting more than 26 million tourists by 2030, the year it will host the World Cup, jointly with Spain and Portugal.
