Friday 24 July 2020, by Ginette

After several months of closure due to confinement, and several weeks of preparation, the National Foundation of Museums (FNM) has announced the reopening of museums. According to the institution, the museums are ready to welcome the public in complete safety while respecting the health standards.

Access to museums will now be by reservation and under certain conditions issued by the authorities to limit the spread of Covid-19. The FNM specifies that "visitors must wear their masks and an agent will take the temperature before allowing access to the spaces, and contactless hand sanitizer dispensers will be made available to visitors at the entrance to the museums". As for the barrier gestures, the museum staff are required to remind them "through information panels and the implementation of increased cleaning frequency of spaces, surfaces and electronic devices".

The museums that will open on Monday, July 27 are the Musée des Confluences Dar El Bacha and the Musée du Tissage et du Tapis Dar Si Said in Marrakech. This will be every day from 10am to 6pm, except Monday for the first and Tuesday for the second. In Tetouan, the Archaeological Museum will be open every day from 10am to 6pm, except Tuesday, like the National Museum of Ceramics in Safi. The Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures in Tangier will open every day from 10am to 5:30pm, but will remain closed every Tuesday.

As for Rabat, the National Museum of Photography will be accessible every day, from 10am to 7pm, except Tuesday. The Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Museum of History and Civilizations will open on August 10, respectively from 10am to 8pm and 10am to 6pm, except Tuesdays, the same source specifies.
