Morocco Modernizes Airports with Biometric E-Gates at Five Major Hubs

The National Airports Office (ONDA) is pursuing its airport modernization policy. It will soon install electronic gates in five airports.
Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, Marrakech-Menara Airport, Agadir-Al Massira Airport, Fès-Saïss Airport and Rabat-Salé Airport will soon be equipped with electronic gates. These are automated systems that use biometric technology to verify the identity of travelers. These self-service devices allow passengers to go through immigration control without an agent, thus accelerating boarding and disembarking.

The operation of the electronic gates follows several steps. The traveler inserts his electronic passport into a reader. Then a camera captures his face. The system compares the image with the one stored in the passport chip. As soon as the identity is verified, the doors open automatically. The process generally takes less than 15 seconds, offering a quick solution to manage passenger flows.
