Morocco’s Military Rises to 56th in Global Firepower Ranking

Morocco has made a leap of four places and has risen to a comfortable position in the ranking of the best-equipped armed forces in the world. From 60th place, the Royal Armed Forces have found themselves in 56th place in the "Global Fire Power" ranking (the most powerful military forces in the world) for the year 2020.
To reach this level in the ranking, Morocco had to invest sufficiently and qualitatively in state-of-the-art equipment. According to Global Fire Power, they have, in terms of aviation, 291 military aircraft including 46 fighter jets, 64 helicopters, 31 transport aircraft, 67 training and combat aircraft, and four special mission aircraft, while the attack combat helicopter would be lacking, according to the weapons specialist.
As for the Royal Ground Forces, they have 1,443 tanks, 2,901 armored combat vehicles, 505 self-propelled artillery pieces, 200 towed artillery pieces, and 144 rocket launchers. As for the Royal Navy, it has 121 naval units, including three military frigates and 105 maritime patrols and four corvettes. The kingdom can also count on 55 operational airports and seven ports and terminals. According to Global Fire Power, the budget allocated to the military sector by Morocco amounts to $10 billion, and the external debt, according to the report, has reached a total of $51 million, reports Hespress.
In terms of human resources, the Royal Armed Forces have no shortage of arguments. They have 17 million and 157 thousand people ready to serve, but 14.5 million are eligible for military service. The number of Moroccan soldiers stands at 410,510, of whom 210,000 are active duty, while 200,000 others form the reserve force.
The "great silent one" is the 7th most powerful armed force in the Arab nations. Egypt, ninth in the world, is the most armed of the Arabs. It is preceded by Saudi Arabia in second place, Algeria in third place, the United Arab Emirates in fourth place, Syria in fifth place, followed by Iraq.
At the African level, Morocco is fifth behind Egypt, Algeria, South Africa and Nigeria.
