Morocco-Mauritania Border Crossing Reopens After Three-Week Blockade

The resumption of road traffic between Morocco and Mauritania, through the El Guerguerat border post, has been effective since this Saturday, November 14. This is good news for Moroccan and Mauritanian truckers who have suffered so much from the closure of this passage.
Road traffic between Morocco and Mauritania, through the El Guerguerat border post, resumed on Saturday afternoon in both directions, reports the MAP.
Dozens of freight trucks heading for Mauritania and other African countries but had been stranded for three weeks due to the actions of the Polisario militias were able to cross the Moroccan and Mauritanian borders.
This reopening of the borders follows the military operation carried out by the Royal Armed Forces. On the instructions of King Mohammed VI, they installed a security cordon in the buffer zone on Friday to ensure and secure the flow of goods and people.
