Morocco’s Marchica Lagoon Project Advances, Aims to Boost Local Employment

At the 7th session of the Board of Directors of the Agency for the Development of the Marchica lagoon site, held in Rabat, all the stakeholders agree on the scope of the "Marchica Med" Project for the inhabitants of the neighboring municipalities.
The investment program of the Agency for the Development of the Marchica lagoon site, for the period 2014-2020, is progressing. This is the main point to be retained from the 7th session of its Board of Directors, which was held in Rabat, under the chairmanship of the Head of the Moroccan Government, Saad Eddine El Othmani, reports leseco.ma.
The Prime Minister then mentioned the need to increase the employment rate through the Agency’s projects (under study or implementation) and private investment projects. These are the ones that the Agency has authorized.
For Saïd Zarrou, Director General of the Agency, the dimensions of the "Marchica Med" Project have seduced African countries, in particular Niger, which plans to establish a partnership with the institution. It will consist of carrying out development projects similar to the two it has in Ivory Coast (the preservation and enhancement of the Cocody Bay) and in Madagascar (Pandanales), added the same source.
In addition, the "Marchica Med" Project has been strengthened through the opening, on July 15, 2019, of a high-end hotel, the "Marchica lagoon resort". Built on an area of 3.75 ha, it has 93 rooms, which will boost the Agency’s tourism program.
