Morocco Mandates Vaccine Pass for Civil Servants, Sparking Backlash

The government, which is inviting them to complete their vaccination schedule expressly before accessing the workplace, has faced the discontent of civil servants, who denounce an abuse of authority.
In an effort to achieve collective immunity, the government has invited all state officials to take the third dose of the anti-Covid-19 vaccine. Those who do not will be considered absent, with the consequence of deductions from their salaries.
The first reaction to this communiqué from the executive comes from the National Union of Civil Servants, UNF affiliated with the UMT, which has rejected this decision outright, considering that this measure is contrary to the law, reports Assabah.
According to the union, this is an implicit imposition of the vaccine pass, a measure contrary to the law. The sanctions provided for in the event of non-presentation of the document are also as illegal as they are abusive. Therefore, there is no question of the recalcitrant civil servants incurring any sanction whatsoever.
For Miloudi Moukharek, secretary general of the UMT, this measure has no legal basis, is contrary to the status of the civil service, especially with regard to the situation of abandonment of post or deduction from salaries.
