Morocco: Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Plotting Tourist Attack in Fès

An individual was sentenced to 10 years in prison for terrorism and apology for terrorism, nearly a month after his arrest. This is the verdict handed down by the Salé Court of Appeal, specialized in terrorism cases.
The 31-year-old man had been arrested while preparing a terrorist attack against a "hadar" team in Fès and national and foreign tourists, as well as several tourist establishments such as hotels, restaurants, bars, nightclubs and cabarets in the city and its surroundings, reports Al Akhbar.
According to the same source, his arrest is also linked to illegal immigration. The investigations of the BCIJ teams revealed that the accused had illegally traveled to Algeria by soliciting the services of a smuggler he had paid 1,500 dirhams.
According to the investigators, the thirty-year-old consulted websites dedicated to the spread of terrorism, the ideology of the Islamic State, in search of information and expertise on the methods of manufacturing and using explosives. He also communicated with members of Daesh. All these actions had only one goal: to plan and then succeed in his terrorist attacks.
