Morocco's Major Cities Face Critical Shortage of Public Restrooms

Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier are sorely lacking in public toilets. A recurring problem lamented by residents, Moroccans living abroad and tourists.

Many large cities like Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier suffer from a severe lack of public toilets, as well as the deterioration of those that exist, reports Aljarida24. Most Moroccan cities are not equipped with sufficient public toilets to meet the needs of citizens, especially in summer when temperatures rise, confirms the Moroccan Association of Consumer Rights in a press release. Where does the municipal budget go?" questions a Facebook group interested in social affairs.

In an interview with the same media, Karim Klaibi, vice-president of the Aïn Sebaâ district council and member of the Casablanca municipal council, announced the imminent installation of 60 new high-quality public toilets in the city. According to the agreement signed with the local development company "Casa Environnement", these toilets will be created each year in the city, he says, adding that these toilets will be distributed in all districts, and that coordination operations are underway to determine
