Morocco Lowers COVID-19 Alert Level as Vaccination Rates Climb

In a presentation before the Council of Government on Thursday on the situation related to Covid-19 in Morocco, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, stated that the kingdom has moved to the green level thanks to the clear improvement in epidemiological indicators.
Morocco’s transition from the orange to the green level is due to several factors such as the national vaccination campaign which has led to the adoption of the "vaccination pass" for travel and access to public places, said the minister.
According to the figures provided by Khalid Ait Taleb, the number of people who have received at least one dose of the vaccine is 24,053,942, or more than 64% of the population, while 21,835,545 have received the two doses, or more than 57.6% of Moroccans. About 1,263,441 people have received a third booster dose.
Even with the indicators that have moved to green, the minister calls for vigilance and compliance with preventive measures, in order to avoid a relapse. He stressed that Morocco remains under the threat of a new wave, due to the appearance of a new variant. This is why, he stressed, vigilance must be maintained in order to achieve the desired collective immunity, synonymous with a return to normal life.
