Morocco Leads as Top Foreign-Born Group in France, INSEE Report Shows

12% of foreign residents in France were born in Morocco. This is what the latest report from the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) published in mid-October reveals.
In 2020, 47.5% of immigrants living in France were born in Africa, the INSEE specifies. Moroccans represent 12% of the immigrant community and occupy the second position in the ranking. It is ahead of Algeria 12% and is followed by Portugal (8.6%), Tunisia (4.5%), Italy (4.1%), Turkey (3.6%) and Spain (3.5%).
In total, more than 80% of the immigrants surveyed have acquired French nationality.
