Morocco Launches E-Visa Program for 49 Countries to Boost Tourism

As of July 10 next, Morocco will introduce electronic visas for certain foreigners, who will no longer have to go to the consulates to collect a printed visa.
This measure, which concerns travelers from 49 countries, will help give new impetus to national tourism, said government spokesman Mustapha Baïtas on Thursday during a press briefing held at the end of the Council of Government.
The reform will facilitate for foreigners subject to a visa, the rapid obtaining, within 24 hours or a maximum of 72 hours, of the travel document for Morocco without having to go to the consulates of the Kingdom, he stressed, adding that the processing of visa applications will be done via a web platform managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Three categories of countries are concerned by this e-visa, namely Thailand and Israel, holders of residence permits from visa-free countries such as those belonging to the Schengen area, or Switzerland, Canada, Great Britain, and the United States.
The validity of the electronic visa will be 30 days, with the possibility of extending it to 6 months for multiple entries.
