Morocco Launches Telemedicine Service Amid COVID-19 Crisis

A remote consultation service is now available to allow patients to continue to receive care, despite the covid-19 health crisis. The initiative comes from the National Council of the Order of Pharmacists (CNOP) and the National Council of the Order of Physicians of the Kingdom.
The remote consultation service is now available to patients in Morocco. Due to the covid-19 health crisis, the two professions, namely pharmacists and doctors, have decided to provide remote medical advice to patients. The service is provided by doctors, and if necessary, in collaboration with pharmacists, reports Hespress.
Hamza Guedira, president of the CNOP, gave details on the practical implementation of remote consultation. For example, the pharmacist can contact the patient’s attending physician to give him the patient’s identity and pathology. The doctor in turn will be responsible for issuing a prescription and sending it by WhatsApp or email to the pharmacist. Once in possession of the prescription, the pharmacist will carry out the necessary legal formalities to serve the products to the patient, who will thus be able to continue his treatment.
The president of the CNOP specified that all patients can use the remote consultation service, especially those suffering from chronic pathologies. It is an effective service for these patients who wish to renew their prescriptions, but who cannot go to their doctors. This initiative will save many patients during this covid-19 health crisis. Because there are pathologies for which the interruption of treatment can be fatal, insisted Hamza Guedira.
