Morocco Launches Regional School to Address Migrant Health and Well-being

Morocco is organizing a regional winter school on sexual and reproductive health, mental health and psychosocial support for migrants. The kingdom, through the National School of Public Health, is innovating and hopes to set an example in the region for the well-being of migrants during their migratory journey.
By initiating such a school, Morocco aims to replicate good practices at the regional level and to strengthen the development of knowledge in the field of sexual and reproductive health, with a focus on mental health and psychosocial support for migrants. This school also aims to actively contribute to capacity building of the various stakeholders involved in the promotion of health and the protection of migrants in the five countries involved in the project, namely Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Yemen.
The training will be provided by national and international experts in the field. It is based on the sharing of knowledge at the regional level and on the strengthening of partnerships with university institutions and others for the promotion and protection of the health of vulnerable migrants.
The opening ceremony of this winter school, organized by the National School of Public Health (ENSP), will take place on February 3, 2020. It will be chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Abdelilah Boutaleb, and will be attended by the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Morocco, Ana Fonseca, and the Ambassador of Finland, Pekka Hyvönen.
