Morocco Launches Probe into University Sex-for-Grades Scandal

After the outbreak of a new "sex for good grades" affair, the Minister of Higher Education, Abdellatif Miraoui, has taken several measures. An investigation commission was dispatched this Wednesday, December 29, to the National School of Commerce and Management of Oujda (ENCGO).
A student from the National School of Commerce and Management of Oujda (ENCGO) accused her professor of asking her for sexual favors in exchange for good grades and semester validation. On Monday, the publication of the messages they exchanged became viral on social networks. Abdellatif Miraoui, Minister of Higher Education, dispatched this Wednesday a commission of inquiry composed of officials from the General Inspectorate of the ministry to Oujda.
The members of this mission will have to determine with precision all the facts related to this new case of alleged sexual blackmail at the ENCGO. In this sense, they will have to hear all the people concerned in the presence, possibly, of a bailiff, reports Le360. Back in Rabat in the evening of this same Wednesday, they will have to produce their report. According to a source close to Abdellatif Miraoui, there will be zero tolerance.
Other sources indicate that the minister has already taken other measures. These include the establishment of crisis cells each time new cases of this kind arise, the establishment of a toll-free number valid for all university institutions and grandes écoles, whose interlocutors are responsible for receiving and processing all complaints that will be collected, including anonymous complaints, and finally the establishment of a think tank at the central level to preserve the image of the university institution through anticipation and prevention work.
Abdellatif Miraoui has also summoned all the presidents of Moroccan universities for a working session dedicated to these cases. The session is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, December 30, 2021.
