Morocco Launches Nationwide Probe into Mismanagement of Public Sports Facilities

Following suspicions of mismanagement raised by parliamentarians, the Ministry of the Interior has decided to take stock of neighborhood land across the country. An investigation has been initiated for this purpose.
Thus, administrative officials have been appointed to collect preliminary data on the exact number of these lands and inquire about the management and financing methods of these sports facilities, reports Assabah.
Ultimately, the department will develop a study that will serve as a basis for initiating discussions with the relevant partners, before making the appropriate decisions on the new status of these infrastructures. These lands have apparently been diverted from their original purpose for political, associative and pecuniary purposes, it is reported.
To recall, Morocco built 800 fields dedicated to young people between 2018 and 2020, with a budget of 600 million dirhams. This program was financed by loans granted by the FEC to the municipalities in charge of its implementation.
