Morocco Launches Multilingual Sex Education App for Youth

The Pan-African Organization for the Fight against AIDS (OPALS) has just launched a new mobile application aimed at young people, for sexual and reproductive education. Available in the three languages Arabic, French and English, the program answers questions related to sexual and reproductive health.
Initiated by young people and doctors in order to fight against misinformation about sexuality and procreation, the application was launched in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
According to the President of OPALS, Nadia Bezzad, the program should make up for the absence of the subject in school curricula and take the theme out of the social and family taboo framework.
The mobile application addresses the various themes dealt with within the organization, in particular self-medication through AIDS and sexually transmitted disease detection tests, information on cervical cancer, as well as family planning methods.
The President of the organization stressed the role of awareness campaigns and the media in the prevention of problems related to sexual and reproductive health, specifying that the center is focusing on underprivileged social groups who have difficulties in accessing care.
