Morocco Launches Mobile Consulate in Toul, Serving Thousands of Expatriates

Tuesday 15 June 2021, by Jonas

A "mobile consulate" was held last Saturday in Strasbourg for Moroccan nationals living in Toul. The execution of this royal directive made it possible to provide hundreds of services and receive more than a thousand national identity card files.

More than 2,000 services were provided and 1,200 National Identity Card files were collected, according to a press release from the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Strasbourg.

"This large influx is explained by the backlog caused by successive lockdowns, the opening of the borders of our country to allow the travel of Moroccans of the World and the launch by the Ministry of the mandatory appointment system," explained Ms. Houda Belhaj, Deputy Consul.

"We mobilized the Toulois Moroccans to make them participate in this civic action for the benefit of our compatriots in order to welcome them as best as possible," declared the local elected official, Malika Allouchi-Ghazzale, who coordinated the operations with the consulate. Saluting the good atmosphere that prevailed between the consular agents and the volunteers, the elected official said that trust, rigor and communication made it possible to overcome all the difficulties encountered on the ground. "No matter the difficulties, we all went home with a heart full of joy, proud of our compatriots and their selflessness, but above all the sense of duty accomplished," she rejoiced.

The operation, which took place in the premises of the Strasbourg town hall, saw the participation of volunteers from the Femmes Relais association and the socio-cultural association of Maghrebians of Toulois, specifies a press release from the consular representation, noting in the same text that these various participations were "highly praised" by the community of Toul and its surroundings.
