Morocco Launches Mobile Consulate in Porto to Serve Expat Community

With a view to facilitating access to administrative services for Moroccans, the Moroccan embassy in Lisbon has just set up a mobile consulate in Porto.
This mobile consulate that has been set up has been greatly appreciated by members of the Moroccan community who benefit from savings in cost and time, the embassy said in a statement, saying it appreciates "the massive influx of Moroccans who have come, some with their families, to benefit from the consular services they need."
While respecting the health and hygiene measures against Covid, the consular service staff carried out around 200 services including registrations, translations of Moroccan documents into Portuguese, legalizations of signatures related to powers of attorney, registrations in civil status registers, recording of passport and national identity card applications. This mobile consulate also facilitated the listening to members of the Moroccan community and inquiring about their social and professional situation, especially those who have difficulty traveling to Lisbon.
The organization of this mobile consulate was made possible thanks to the participation of the Moroccan association "Essalam" in Porto which provided its premises for the operation and which raised awareness among the inhabitants of Porto and elsewhere about its holding. It should be noted that the embassy plans to organize the same operation in Faro in the coming days for Moroccans residing in southern Portugal, the embassy said.
