Morocco Launches Initiative to Attract Diaspora Investment and Expertise

CGEM and the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) proceeded on Tuesday to sign a framework cooperation agreement aimed at contributing to the Moroccan economy through the mobilization of skills and Moroccan entrepreneurs abroad to invest in their country.
Through this framework cooperation agreement, the two parties intend to combine their efforts to encourage Moroccan skills and entrepreneurs abroad to come and invest in the Kingdom.
The partnership sealed by Karim Amor, President of MeM by CGEM dedicated to Moroccan Entrepreneurs and High Potentials of the World and Abdellah Boussouf, Secretary General of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME) also aims to identify and manage profiles of Moroccans of the world.
"As a Representative of the private sector in Morocco and the region bringing together the driving forces of the country abroad, we are honored to ally with the CCME," said the President of MeM by CGEM, recognizing that, thanks to its experience, its partner will bring a significant added value to this common project.
"Thus, within the framework of the 5 pillars of action of our region, we give the MeM, the opportunity to imprint, through action, their willingness to contribute to the Moroccan economy, in particular through inter-company partnership and mentoring with experienced entrepreneurs," explained Karim Amor of CGEM.
As for Abdellah Boussouf, he points out that Moroccans abroad are at the heart of the economic development of the Kingdom. "The three main providers of foreign exchange to Morocco are Moroccans of the world thanks to financial transfers, tourists, a category in which MREs are also counted, and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)," he added before stressing that beyond this economic contribution of the diaspora, there is a strong attachment to the Kingdom but also a deep rooting at the level of the regions of origin".
